Milestones

Maturi Venkata Subba Rao (MVSR) Engineering College has grown from its inception into a leading engineering institution in Telangana. Over the decades, the college has expanded academic offerings, infrastructure, research capability, and national recognition.

The milestones below summarise MVSR's journey of academic excellence and institutional development.

1980 - Foundation

• 1980: Registration of Matrusri Education Society, laying the foundation for a visionary institution dedicated to quality education.
• 1981: Inauguration of MVSR Engineering College by Sri T. Anjaiah, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, at temporary premises in Ameerpet with an intake of 180 students in Civil, ECE, and Mechanical disciplines.

1983-1999 - Expansion & establishment

• 1983: Shifting of the college to the Saidabad campus.
• 1985: Introduction of B.E. (Computer Science & Engineering).
• 1986: Inauguration of the Administrative Block at Saidabad campus by Sri P. V. Narasimha Rao, then Minister of Human Resources, Government of India.
• 1991: Decennial celebrations; introduction of gold medals for class toppers by MECT.
• 1992: Introduction of gold medals for best teachers by MECT.
• 1993: Grant of permanent affiliation by Osmania University for Civil, Mechanical, ECE, and CSE.
• 1994: Introduction of MCA.
• 1995: Foundation stone of the Science Block laid at Nadergul campus by Sri M. Gopal Rao.
• 1997: Shifting of first year to Nadergul campus; introduction of B.E. (EEE) and MBA programmes.

2000-2010 - Academic & infrastructure growth

• 2000: Complete shifting of all engineering disciplines to Nadergul campus; introduction of B.E. (IT).
• 2001: Introduction of B.E. (Production Engineering).
• 2002: Inauguration of canteen and Physical Education department block.
• 2003: First AICTE (MODROBS) grant.
• 2004: Inauguration of CS & IT block by Sri V. Rama Rao, Governor of Sikkim. Construction of bank building on campus.
• 2005: Introduction of first PG course: M.E. (CAD/CAM) in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2006: Construction of an additional 5,000 sqm on the second floor of Civil, Mechanical, and CS & IT blocks.
• 2007: Silver Jubilee celebrations; construction of library block.
• 2008: Introduction of MCA (restructured).
• 2009: Introduction of MBA and B.E. (Automobile Engineering).
• 2010: Introduction of M.E. (Embedded Systems & VLSI Design) and M.Tech (CSE).

2011-2021 - Recognition & autonomy

• 2013: Construction of dedicated ECE block.
• 2017: Civil, CSE, ECE, and Mechanical disciplines recognised as research centres by Osmania University.
• 2018: Civil, CSE, ECE, EEE, Mechanical, and IT disciplines accredited by NBA.
• 2019: Accredited by NAAC.
• 2020: Ranked in NIRF 2020 (251-300 rank band). Introduction of M.E. (Structural Engineering).
• 2021: Conferred UGC autonomous status for 10 years - a major milestone in academic independence and curriculum innovation.
